Standard Constructions
Strand
1x7: In a 1x7 strand, six outer wires are laid around the center wire. More flexible than the 1x3, it is often used for push-pull applications.1x19: In a 1x19 construction, 12 outer wires are laid around a 1x7 center. This construction is even more flexible than the 1x7 and is often used in push-pull applications.
Cable
3x7: In a 3x7 cable, three 1x7 strands twisted together. In small diameters, this construction is very flexible.7x3: In a 7x3 cable, six 1x3 strands are wrapped around a 1x3 center. This cable has many of the same properties as the 3x7 but is much smoother. 7x3 is a common construction for applications where a jacketed cable is needed.
7x7: In a 7x7 cable, six 1x7 strands are wrapped around a 1x7 center. This construction is one of the most commonly used in the construction industry. 7x7 cable is known for its flexibility and high cycle life.
7x19: In a 7x19 cable, six 1x19 strands are wrapped around a 1x19 center. 7x19 is the most flexible construction you can have in cable. Like the 7x7, it has a high cycle life but a lower breaking strength.

Standard Jacket Materials
Poly-Vinyl-Chloride (PVC):
PVC is the most commonly used plastic for mechanical cable coatings. Reasonably priced and flexible, PVC carries excellent weatherability and UV resistance—something that degrades most plastics. Operating temperatures range from 30°F(-35°C) to 180°F (80°C). Vinyl is supplied in a range of hardness and durometers—which create a spectrum from hard and stiff to soft and spongy. Color choices are nearly endless—from vivid brights and soft pastels to fluorescents and safety orange. Let us know what you need, and we can make it happen.
Nylon Series:
With wide-ranging flexibility and chemical/fatigue resistance, our nylon jackets can be tailored to fit your application. When you need a jacketed cable with a high cycle life, nylon is what you are looking for! Our Exerflex Pro® fitness cable andMIL-DTL-83420 aircraft cable are clear illustrations of its longevity.
